Interlibrary Loan

Staff are available to help you in the Interlibrary Loan office.

Through Interlibrary Loan, students, faculty, and staff can borrow books or request photocopies of magazine, journal, and newspaper articles from libraries throughout Virginia and the United States.  There is no charge for this service.  Items usually arrive within three to seven days, though certain items may take longer.

Interlibrary Loan is now fully automated, through the ILLiad Web database.  ILLiad is accessible through the library's home page, and may be used to make all of your interlibrary loan requests.  Users create an account in the ILLiad Web database and request items by filling out web-based forms.  The account also provides the user with information about the progress of their requests, and access to the full-text of requested articles, when available.

In addition, ILLiad may now to be used to request copies of articles owned by McConnell Library, through the Digital Article Delivery Service (DADS).  Using this service, any article McConnell Library owns may be requested through the ILLiad system, and will be delivered electronically to your ILLiad account.  You do not need to know whether McConnell Library owns the article:  just make the request, and the Interlibrary Loan staff will determine where to get the article.

Interlibrary Loan staff processing requests

Staff in the Interlibrary Loan office process the requests from the ILLiad system, and deliver the materials to you.  If you have any questions about Interlibrary Loan or your ILLiad account, please go to the office and ask them your questions.
