An item is checked out, and I would like to use it. How can I place a hold on the item?
If you need an item that is checked out, you can place the item on hold from the Library's online catalog, or by contacting the Front Desk staff. If your need of an item is urgent and the item is checked out to another patron, call the Front Desk staff at (540) 831-5364 or email frontdesk@radford.edu for assistance.

To place the item on hold from the Library's online catalog, go to the McConnell Library home page, click on Library Catalog, and search for the item by title, keyword, etc. Once you find the title you want, click on request. You will be taken to the Request Verification screen.

RU students, faculty and staff: enter your RU username and password, choose a pickup location from the options given, enter a "cancel if not filled by" date and then click submit. You should see a screen stating that your request has been successful. Front Desk staff will notify you by email when your item is ready for pickup.

Public (Non-RU) patrons: enter your name, complete barcode, and PIN, choose a pickup location from the options given, enter a "cancel if not filled by" date and then click submit. You should see a screen stating that your request has been successful. Circulation Desk staff will notify you by email when your item is ready for pickup.
